Politicians are often not so well informed about facts and figures for a variety of reasons. Hence why so few journos interview and so few activists openly debate the opponents who ARE.

Yes, that appears to be some progress. And the Stack piece was published as "opinion", not reporting, despite it including a presumably newsworthy interview with Senator Moon.

Another interesting tidbit: the Stack piece is the first time NYT readers were informed of the Jamie Reed whistleblowing and the resulting state investigation of the Wash.U. gender clinic. That's news that hadn't previously been reported by the NYT, which does not appear to be living up to its motto of "All the news that's fit to print".

I'm wondering if this is part of a broader course-correction. The Washington Post recently announced a bunch of new hires, including some right-wing opinion contributors. Maybe the NYT has also realized there's a limit to being the house organ for one narrow strain of the #resistance left.

(Next step: hiring Kevin Williamson and Ann Coulter...).
